CITYONE
Limerick, Ireland
2014
Our inspiration for the CityOne design came from an abstract representation of the jibing and tacking maneuvers used in sailing as might be generated using computer graphics for tracking race boats.
We used a primary color palette to represent tracings of hypothetical routes of four boats on the water as they race.
The abstract pattern is mapped over the sail and boat surfaces in an asymmetrical pattern, creating a highly dynamic and unique image when viewed from different directions, and reflecting the dynamic experience of sailing. On the water, no two days, or races are ever the same.
The overlapping lines create a subtle reference to
traditional Irish tartan patterns.
